Food and wine remind us to live a little; don’t you agree? After all, they’re not only nourishing (and delicious), but they also bring people together—whether it’s a special anniversary dinner, a much-needed lunch break with coworkers, a friend’s birthday party or even a casual weeknight meal with family. Often considered two of life’s great pleasures, food and wine can truly spark the fun in life.

October is our “food and wine” issue, and narrowing down content is always the toughest part. However, experiencing the stories as we create them is by far the easiest and most fun. This month, we sat down with the owners of the Carmine restaurants and discovered the history behind their family business. Check out page XX [Open House] to find out what makes up an incredible wine tasting experience at Matthews Winery. And on page XX [Culinary Creations], try out a new healthy fall recipe from nutritionist Karla Tafra.

Also, don’t miss this month’s Napa Valley feature. We had the tough task of trying out all the wineries, restaurants and hotels mentioned in this feature—we hope you consider some of our recommendations before you plan your next trip!

Whether you are at home, out and about locally or traveling, we hope food and wine add fun to whatever you’re doing, wherever you are. Live a little, and enjoy.
