Eco Chic 1It’s warm, sunny, and the days are longer — it’s finally summer. Hands down my favorite thing about the Northwest is the long, warm summer nights. For most of us, summer is packed with family vacations, camps, outdoor activities and hopefully a few lazy days in there just to hang out and enjoy.

This issue is extra special to me because I was able to include my family. My dad has been an avid fisher for as long as I can remember. His passion is fly fishing, but he does all kinds, and our family has definitely enjoyed the fruits of his hobby (try to beat his salmon recipe). This issue he shares with us how you too can create memories and plan a quick and easy fishing trip with those you love. Young or old, it’s a great way to bond and spend time outdoors.

We also hear about another family tradition in this month’s issue — a gorgeous San Juan Islands vacation home, where Moya Skillman and Tere Foster share their history of special memories. They open their doors to share with us their recent remodel and beautiful interiors.

And of course, we have some suggestions for outdoor dining. Check out our list of Bellevue’s top five patios, as well as our recommendations for some fun picnic ideas.

It almost feels like every day is a vacation during summer in the Northwest…but we’ve earned it.  Soak it up!  See you outside!
