Amazon Opens Brick-and-Mortar Bookstore in Bellevue
Online retail giant Amazon opened its second physical bookstore, Amazon Books, in August at the Bellevue Square Mall. In addition to books, the store, which is located on the first floor between Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and the Disney Store, will sell its devices, including Kindles, Fire TV and the Echo.
Amazon’s first bookstore opened in Seattle at the University Village shopping plaza at the end of 2015. The retailer has stores in eight states with plans to open stores in the next few months in California and New York City.
Niche.com Names Bellevue School District Best in State
Niche.com, a website that helps visitors find the best schools and neighborhoods for them, recently ranked Bellevue School District as the No. 1 school district in the state of Washington. Using data from the U.S. Department of Education and survey results from parents and students, the district received an overall A+ grade, including an A+ in college prep and academics, an A in teachers and diversity, and an A- in clubs and activities, administration, food and sports.
Rounding out the top five were Mercer Island School District, Lake Washington School District, Issaquah School District and Bainbridge School District.

New Movie Theater Now Open in Lincoln Square
A new luxury moviegoing experience for adults only is now available in Bellevue with the opening of the Cinemark Reserve Lincoln Square The theater, which opened in August at 700 Bellevue Way NE, offers a wide array of amenities, including electric-powered recliners. The chairs feature reclining backs, extendable footrests and tables. All seating at the theater is reserved and can be purchased in advance on Cinemark.com or the Cinemark app to ensure guests’ preferred seats are reserved for them no matter what time they make it to the theater.
In addition to a traditional concession area that offers movie theater fare such as popcorn, candy, soda and more, the theater also offers more dining options with Cinemark Reserve Kitchen + Bar, which provides seat-side ordering and delivery service throughout the movie.
All guests of the theater, which has six auditoriums with stadium seating, must be 21 years old.
Cinemark is a leading domestic and international motion picture exhibitor, operating 529 theatres with 5,926 screens in 41 U.S. states, Brazil, Argentina and 13 other Latin American countries as of June 30.
